I am making progress with the funk thing, I've been painting everyday since the middle of February.
I started looking on line to find some artists I like to paint. I needed to get my looking and seeing eyes working again. The artists I choose already have everything figured out and all I have to do is to paint it on my canvas.
I started with one of my faves, Vincent van Gogh. I have trouble painting his work. Not sure why. I found this painting "The Brothel". Really liked it. The first study done.
Next I found "Still Life of Figs" by Unknown Artist. Something that looked so simple. I thought it would be easy. Not so much. It was hard. The second study done.
Two studies completed.
The next study I decided to try a landscape. I found "On the Maas" by William Tryon. It wasn't a land scape but a waterscape. Haven't done much with water and boats. I'm on a mission here so let's give it a go. To my surprise it turned out pretty good. Three studies done.
I'm on a roll here. Another artist I really is Maurice de Vlaminck. His paintings are dark mysterious. I love that. "After the Rain" was next on my list. This one was sort of difficult but not bad. I can't believe it ! Four studies finished. Woo!!
Looking for more artists I happened upon Luis Melendez from the 1700's. I couldn't believe what I was looking at. His paintings looked like photographs. Unreal. I thought if I can do his paintings I can do anything. If you get a chance check him out.
The last two studies are Luis Melendez- Natura Morta and Natura Morta amb Prunes and Figs. These were killer. I almost quit on Natura Morta amb Prunes and Figs. IT WAS HARD. I persisted and finished it.
Six studies - it been awhile since I've painted that much. It was awesome. I'm so happy that I did this.
Currently I'm working on painting several of the studies with Flashe Paint onto bigger canvases. These were painted on Strathmore, 140# watercolor paper and the size is 9x12. This process has made me able to see and look at lot better. I like to do difficult paintings for this reason If I don't challenge myself, I'll never improve.
Tell me what you think. Love hearing from you. Have the most wonderful day and be blessed.
